Christian Kist sent Alexandra Palace into meltdown as he pinned the 2025 World Championship’s first nine-darter.
The Dutchman has pocketed a £60,000 bonus for his first round effort – and has also earned the same sum for a fan at the iconic venue.
Kist pinned two 180s to set up a 141 finish, before ticking off a treble 20, treble 19 and a double 12.
He took the first set against Madars Razma as a result, averaging a 112.
The crowd inside Ally Pally went wild as they witnessed the first nine-darter at the tournament since 2023.
The most recent nine-darter at the PDC World Championship before Kist was by Michael Smith in his 2023 final win over Michael van Gerwen.
The nine-darter has only been executed 14 times at a world championships, so it’s no wonder those in attendance soaked in the moment.
Kist, who trebled his yearly winnings as a result, isn’t the only one banking a big load of cash, though.
Before the tournament, bookmakers Paddy Power agreed to pay the player and a fan at Ally Pally £60,000 each for each nine-darter.
They also vowed to donate an additional £60,000 to Prostate Cancer UK for every nine-darter, bringing the total pay out to £180,000 per effort.
After Kist’s effort, one of the lucky 3,300 fans who entered in attendance on Thursday will have been celebrating harder than everyone else.
The chosen supporter was spotted by the Sky Sports cameras inside the venue.
He appeared to be sat down – which we’re sure not many readers would have been after winning £60,000!
But the fan did look absolutely buzzing with his fist raised and a huge smile plastered across his face.
In an interview with the PDC after the match, the fan, railway worker Kris, was asked how he felt after winning the huge sum.
“Speechless to be honest!” he smiled. “I didn’t expect it to happen to me, a free competition, just speechless. I’m shaking still!”
Asked what the money will do for him, he said: “No idea but me and my partner have literally [just] moved into a flat this year.
“So maybe we’ll stick some on the mortgage, maybe a nice holiday, I don’t know!”
