There will be a lot of excitement in Bruges in the coming days. Winter glow, end-of-year shopping and from Wednesday 18 December, De Warmste Week will also come to the city center again. Let’s look back: on December 23 last year, no fewer than 71,000 visitors came to the West Flemish capital. The VRT solidarity action caused ‘t Zand to explode every evening.
This year, Fien Germijns, Sander Gillis, Kawtar Ehlalouch, Joris Brys and Maureen Vanherberghen cast their votes for the radio marathon in aid of charity. What’s the best way to get there?
- Do you live in Bruges or one of the sub-municipalities?
Then the smartest and most carefree option is to on foot to come. From the station in Bruges it is about a 12-minute walk via either the Albert 1 Park or via the Oostmeers. Do you live nearby, but don’t feel like walking? Your bicycle you can park in the underground bicycle parking lots at ‘t Zand and BMCC. In addition, extra space will be made available at the Passantenbrug, the Smedenspoort and the back of the Concertgebouw to store your bicycle.
Moreover, we drive during The Warmest Week free bus of De Lijn on Bruges territory. If you want to take the bus from the station, it is best to use Line 1 Sint-Kruis and Line 2 P+R Coiseaukaai. You will certainly find a bus to ‘t Zand every ten minutes. If you want to go home or return to the station in the evening, you can take the ‘t Zand stop right next to the concert hall.
- Do you not live in Bruges or the surrounding municipalities?
Come by public transport, such as the train. Don’t be afraid: NMBS is running extra trains so that you, as a visitor, will certainly get home on time after the last concert. Towards Brussels, Ghent and Leuven the last train leaves Bruges after 11 pm. The last train for Ostend leaves after 1 hour. For those coming from Kortrijk, there is also an extra train at 11:30 PM. The train also stops in Zedelgem, Torhout, Lichtervelde, Roeselare, Izegem and Ingelmunster.
- Are you still planning to travel by car?
Then it is best to choose one center parking or edge parking. The parking at the station is the cheapest option. There is also a city center car park under ‘t Zand, but it is a lot more expensive and probably fills up faster because of the ideal location. In addition, the part of the city center is car-free at certain times. An edge parking is therefore more suitable. The free options are Lodewijk Coiseaukaai, Waggelwater, Steenbrugge and AZ Sint-Jan Ruddershove. You will find the largest parking lot at Vives Xaverianenstraat, but you can park your car there for a fee. (Read more below the photo)

What does the site look like and can I eat or drink something there?
The epicenter of the action is once again ‘t Zand. In addition to Het Warmste Huis, where radio is made, you will also find many other things there. The baking stage, the studio for commercials, Het Warmste Dorp; Little was done to last year’s success formula. On ‘t Zand you will also find public toilets and several collection points for reusable cups. Hungry or thirsty? Plenty of choice to buy something on the grounds of De Warmste Week itself. Would you rather warm up indoors with a nice drink? There are also many catering establishments at ‘t Zand.
