8-0 (!) for PSV

PSV qualified for the 1/8th finals of the KNVB Cup with ease on Tuesday evening in its own Philips Stadium. After two defeats in a row (against in the Champions League and Heerenveen in the Eredivisie), the Eindhoven team scored 8-0 against amateur club HFC, active in the third division, thanks to goals from former Bruges native Ivan Perisic, among others.

With Matteo Dams in the starting line-up, coach Peter Bosz’s troops were clearly looking forward to it and were already 4-0 ahead at half time thanks to Hirving Lozano, an own goal by Mitchel Michaelis, Ricardo Pepi and Guus Til. After tea, another own goal, this time by Ruben Heeremans, made it 5-0. In the end, PSV pressed on for a while, and Pepi and twice Perisic recorded the heavy 8-0 figures.

Our young compatriot Samuel Gomez van Hoogen was allowed to make his first minutes with the Eindhoven main squad, Johan Bakayoko was not in the match selection.
