“It’s more and more complicated to work here.” Established on Place Jules-Ferry, in Lorient, for around ten years, Yann Garin is not in the mood to joke this Tuesday, December 17, 2024. During the night, his establishment, Le Monroe, was once again the scene of a scene of violence, barely three months after a brawl between Lorient and Ajacci supporters. “Lorient sucks,” he whispers, annoyed.
“Four minutes is a long time”
During the night from Monday to Tuesday, at 2:11 a.m., three individuals returned in front of Le Monroe. “They were there around 11 p.m. They drank then went to the bar next door,” continues the manager. As the employee finishes tidying up the terrace, the three men – aged around thirty – ask him if he has not found a telephone. The 25-year-old bartender – whose father is waiting in front of the establishment to take him home – says he found nothing. Suddenly everything changes. “The telephone was a pretext, they came back to fight it out,” says Yann Garin. On the video surveillance images, to which Le Télégramme had access, we can see one of the three individuals striking the bartender’s father.
The latter runs out to intervene. He is immediately attacked in his turn. “We don’t have your phone,” we hear on the four-minute video, freezing a scene of great violence. Pinned against the door, the waiter is hit several times. “Four minutes is a long time… Endless,” reacts the boss who filed the complaint. The three attackers then fled when the police arrived. Examined by a doctor, the employee was given fifteen days of temporary work interruption. “His face was all swollen, and his father had a big bump.”
A tired boss
Today, Yann Garin shows his weariness. “It cost me more than €22,000 for the ultras story. There, I still have €2,000 worth,” he sighs, remembering the episode of September 27, 2024. “My employee left after that. This little one has been with me for a while. It’s complicated to find competent and willing employees.” As for the attackers, two were arrested by the Raid this Tuesday morning in Ploemeur. A third is still on the run.
