Valenciennes FC (National) had been waiting for their savior for three weeks, after the dismissal of Ahmed Kantari, their former coach. It's official, since Monday December 16, 2024, Vincent Hognon, 50 years old, will manage the Hennuyer club. His mission is to save the Valenciennes from relegation.
The northern club made its players and supporters wait, but now we know that it is the former coach of GF38 who is joining Valenciennes. The Nancéien's mission is to re-mobilize a team which is currently in 12th place in the National rankings.
For this, Hennuyers players can count on the experience of Vincent Hognon as former coach of Nancy, Metz and Grenoble. “We wanted someone with a lot of experience”is justified in a press release by Ben Chorley, sporting director of the club. The former defender, who played as a player for AS Nancy Lorraine, AS Saint-Etienne and OGC Nice, was surely chosen for his experience, with 174 matches managed in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2.
Valenciennes FC assures us: “Vincent Hognon knows perfectly well the ingredients necessary for a team to perform well and regain confidence.” The football club highlights its record as French Ligue 2 champion with Metz in 2019. The one who is qualified as “technician” has the mission of restoring its letters of nobility to a team which in the 2010s was playing in Ligue 1.
His high standards and his past successes are real assets to turn around the sporting situation and give a new dynamic to the entire team.
