USM Algiers (Group C) and CS Constantine (Group A), entered in the African Football Confederation Cup, will be competing this Sunday for the third day of the group stage.
USM Alger will be opposed toAbidjan ASECthis Sunday, at the 5 July stadium in Algiers, from 8:00 p.m.in a match that promises to be very interesting to follow, especially since it would be a confrontation between the two co-leaders of their group “C”.
The two teams share first place in their group, after recording a draw and a victory each. This match would therefore be decisive to ensure their position as leader of the group. And to do this, you have to win the game. USMA players resumed training yesterday (Wednesday) after a day of rest.
The Rouge et Noir are therefore getting down to business with their coach, the Tunisian Nabil Maâloulto be ready for this Sunday in front of their supporters.
The players know perfectly well that they have no right to miss this home match, especially since it pits them against their most formidable competitor.
The Usmists hope to offer a victory to their many supporters who experienced hell last week on Senegalese soil during their last match against Jaraaf de Dakar (0-0).
And on the other hand, a good result would be encouraging for the next confrontation on January 5, against this same Ivorian team.
But before this return match, the guys from Soustara must think about this first meeting in this group against these Ivorians from ASEC who are not at all in Algiers for tourism, but to achieve a good result.
And to avoid sanctions for their fans and for the club, club officials have published an official statement in which they ask their loyal fans to avoid using smoke bombs so as not to give an opportunity to officials of the African Confederation footballers who do not at all want to see the USMA succeed in its matches in this continental competition.
Group A: Constantine wants to take off
The Constantines traveled to Angola, determined to return with a good result, this Sunday, from 5:00 p.m., against the Angolans of Bravos do Maquis in their den of theNational Stadium Tundavala in Lubango, a town some 700 km south of the capital, Luanda.
Having three points more than their opponents today, a draw would be more than enough to stay in the race for one of the two qualifying places in the quarter-finals. On the other hand, the Angolans are condemned to win this match, to steal this first place in the group from the Green and Black. And this is therefore the challenge of this part which already promises to be thrilling to follow.
Before the team's departure to Angola last Thursday, the striker, Tahar Fathallahdeclared that“We are still missing points to take which we will try to collect this Sunday against this Bravos do Maquis team to almost ensure our qualification for the next round. I can tell you that the team is ready on all fronts. All players are aware of the responsibility that awaits them. Our wish is to definitively close this qualification problem as soon as possible in order to be able to calmly approach the rest of the journey, whether in the championship or the African Cup.”
Note that CAF has appointed a trio of Kenyan referees for this meeting, led by Peter Waweru Kamaku. The latter will be assisted by Stephen EleazarOnyango Yiembe and of Samuel Kuria.
Finally, the other match in this group A will see the Tanzanians of Simba welcome the Tunisians of CS Sfax in Dar es Salaam from 2:00 p.m.
