Antonio Conte did little to hide his reluctance to speak with the media ahead of Napoli’s trip away to Udinese as he held a very quick press conference which only lasted eight minutes.
The Partenopei conceded the Serie A top spot to Atalanta after picking up their third league defeat against Lazio last Sunday, with either Inter or Fiorentina also having the chance to leapfrog them potentially, by winning their head-to-head which was suspended due to Edoardo Bove’s medical emergency.
While Napoli boast the best defence in the league, alongside Fiorentina and Juventus, they have only scored 21 goals, as much as 13th-placed Parma and just three more than Verona, who sit in the bottom three.
Why Conte replied with monosyllabic answers in 8-minute press conference
Taking part in his traditional pre-match press conference on Friday, Conte did not seem particularly willing to share his thoughts with reporters as he started giving very brief replies to their questions, leading the process to last as few as eight minutes.
According to Corriere dello Sport, as reported via CalcioNapoli24, the manager wanted to send a message with his concise answers, suggesting he’s only focusing on the pitch and wants to ‘let facts speak for themselves’.
The Partenopei will be without their star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia against Udinese, as the Georgian ace picked up a knee injury that may rule him out for the remaining games of 2024.
