A woman died this Thursday morning after being hit by a train on a level crossing near Igny station. The accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. During the intervention, the sixty passengers who were on board this Transilien remained confined in the train.
According to the first elements of the investigation, the victim “ran towards the train when it arrived”, specifies a police source. Despite the intervention of firefighters, the young woman was declared dead on the spot by doctors. Shocked, the driver was taken care of by the SNCF services.
This accident caused significant delays on RER line C, where traffic was interrupted in both directions for almost three hours between Massy-Palaiseau and Versailles Chantiers. The train stopped at Igny was only able to leave around 9:30 a.m. For the purposes of the investigation, a judicial police officer went to the site.
In less than two months, this is the second death recorded in the municipality in similar circumstances. On October 27, a 51-year-old woman died after being hit by an RER. Here again, the accident occurred on a level crossing near Igny station.
