From this Saturday 7, and until Tuesday December 10, 2024, heavy snowfall is forecast in the Pyrenees. The entire chain will be affected with falls down to low altitude, but the quantity will decline a little from West to East. .

This Friday evening, the Météo Pyrénées site took stock of the places in the Pyrenees where it will fall the most.

Lots of snow from 1000 meters

According to weather models, the amount of snow will be very significant from 1000 meters.

These are the Pyrénées-Atlantiques which will be the most affected department “with 40 to 60 cm from 1000 meters, 1 meter in Haut Béarn, Aspe, Ossau, and 1 meter at 1.50 m above 2000 meters”, indicates Météo Pyrénées.

THE Hautes-Pyrénées will also be very well provided with between 40 and 60 cm from 1000 meters, 50 to 80cm, further east, in the Aure valley and 1 meter above 2000 meters.

One meter in Haute-Garonne

In Haute-Garonne, it could fall 40 to 60 cm from 1000 meters, 50 to 80 cm at 1500 meters on the Luchonnais, and around 1 meter at 2000 meters.

On Ariège, at 1000 meters, it will fall between 20 to 30cm in Haute-Ariège and the Pays d'Olmes, then 50 to 80 cm in Couserans, and eastern Ariège, and finally 60 to 80cm at 2000 meters, around northern Andorra.

It is in Cerdanya, in the Pyrenees-Orientales that snowfall will be the least with 10 to 15 centimeters in Cerdanya around 1500 meters.

It will also snow elsewhere in Occitanie, notably on the Monts de Lacaune in Tarn and Aubrac in Aveyron.
