The show tackles two criminal cases which marked France: the disappearance of Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès and the murders committed by Jean-Claude Romand. At the same time, she will return to a chilling case, that of Corinne Di Dio, found dead in a suitcase on the Seine in 1995.
De Ligonnès: the hunt for more than a decade
Since 2011, Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès has been wanted for the murder of his wife and four children. Disappearing without a trace after being filmed in the Var, his story gave rise to thousands of reports and incredible hypotheses. In 2020, a new lead leads investigators to Notre-Dame de Fontgombault Abbey, a place with an austere atmosphere, where there is an enigmatic resident: Jean-Claude Romand. The latter, known for having murdered his family in 1993, lives in semi-freedom in this religious setting. Did the disturbing similarities between these two men fuel plausible hypotheses?
Jean-Claude Romand: a strange parallel
A fake doctor for years before committing the irreparable, Jean-Claude Romand is one of the most famous French criminals. His presence in Fontgombault intrigued investigators, who wondered if he could have served as a model or support for Xavier Dupont de Ligonnès. Despite the lack of formal evidence linking the two men, the theories linking them remain fascinating and demonstrate the extent of the mysteries surrounding these cases.
The Corinne Di Dio affair: a family conflict at the heart of the investigation
In the second part of the broadcast, Criminal investigations looks into the unsolved murder of Corinne Di Dio, found dismembered in a suitcase in 1995. Investigations recently led to the indictment of Marie-Thérèse Garcia, a relative of the victim. Between heightened family tensions and contradictory testimonies, the show reveals the underside of a case which is still tearing apart those close to the accused.
