Around ten schools and around thirty nurseries will be completely closed this Thursday, December 5 due to the call for a strike in the public service.
Teachers from all over France are taking to the streets this Thursday, December 5, at the call of the unions. Due to this strike by civil servants in Marseille, around ten schools should therefore be closed out of the city's 470 public schools, the town hall announced.
This concerns the Bergers-Perrin Sollier, Delphes and Jean Fiolle-Falque schools in the 6th arrondissement as well as the Lapin Blanc des Neiges, Raymond-Teisseire and Cité Azoulay schools in the 8th arrondissement.
The Pont de Vivaux Saccoman schools in the 10th arrondissement and Maurelle in the 12th will also be closed this Thursday.
As for nurseries, 30 will be closed. The most affected arrondissement will be the 13th, with six completely closed daycare centers, followed by the 5th arrondissement and its five closed daycare centers. Only the 1st and 16th arrondissement of the Marseille city will not experience any closures, neither sections nor establishments.
Other schools and nurseries will have part of their classes closed but will remain open. The city of Marseille offers on its website an updated inventory of all closed schools in the Marseille city.
Many canteens closed
Morning reception will also be disrupted in certain establishments. However, a very large number of school canteens will be closed. Some remain open but children will have to bring their own picnic.
Parents of students concerned are invited to contact the schools to find out what to do about whether or not to welcome their child during school and extracurricular times. Details on children's meals are indicated on the city website.
In Aix-en-Provence, 12 schools will remain closed and many daycare and catering services will be significantly reduced. Seven canteens will even remain closed this Friday, December 6.
