By offering Booder's services, even if it's only for an evening, Six knows that it is investing in a sure value. Loyal viewer of France has incredible talentthe comedian with many hats plays the role of guest judge for this first quarter-final of the nineteenth season broadcast this Wednesday, December 4. With the kindness that sticks to him, the actor recently seen in The Nanny on TF1 and on tour with his new show Ah… School! will judge the performances of the artists and will even be able to award a golden buzzer for a direct place in the semi-final.
“I watch it with my son” : France has incredible talent is a family get-together for Booder
Tele-Leisure : You defend the notion of “live together” through your profession. Is this television show the one that comes closest to this fight?
Booder : The artists who appear on this show come from all walks of life. We look neither at skin colors, nor origins, nor religions, but only at talents. The recruitment criteria are more about being than appearing. It ties in with what I defend, what I do on stage, what I write or what I want to convey in TV films. Culture allows us to experience this, but I would like other sectors of activity, such as employment, to do so too.
Had you already been approached to participate as a guest judge?
I had already been asked. I'm a fan of this show, it's one of the few that we can still watch as a family and where we can discover talents. I watch it with my son. He told me to be fair and not be hard on artists (he laughs). As he is my child, he knows the behind the scenes: when he goes to sleep, he sees me writing texts and pacing back and forth to find the right joke or the right theme for the show. He also told me to choose the Golden buzzer carefully.
What type of judge are you going to be?
I have difficulty making judgments about artists who have lots of dreams. I told the other jurors that we had all been judged early in our careers. I felt a lot of emotion because memories of my beginnings came back to me. It was complicated and I was criticized. Originally, I experienced the side of being disrespected and told to work. Critics make us question everything and ask ourselves if we are cut out for this job.
“I think I'm too nice“: Booder does not imagine himself establishing himself permanently as a judge of France has incredible talent
We imagine that you will never be a permanent judge?
I learned that you should never say never, but honestly, it’s complicated! Already, in terms of my work schedule, but above all, I think I'm still too nice. For me, there are no bad participants, we must applaud those who have the courage to come on the show. Afterwards, I understood the behavior of the jurors. They try to be fair in their reviews in order to help the artists in the future.
Exactly, what is your relationship with your evening colleagues?
I know Marianne James and Hélène Ségara very well. Éric Antoine comes from magic and the stage, we also crossed paths. I knew Sugar Sammy a little less on a human level. I knew him through his talent and through his shows, but I discovered him a little. She's a beautiful person. They integrated me well into the team and made me feel very comfortable. I had a great experience.
What types of numbers particularly capture your attention? Comedians?
I love the music hall! Even in my shows, I have a set! I'm not into pure stand-up with a stool, a bottle of water, a towel and a microphone. It's the theater that educated me like that with a play of actors and lights, a set… As for comedians, I've seen them since I watched France has incredible talent. Tareek even amazed me! It's such a complicated exercise to be on this stage.
“He will have to resolve the problems“: Booder evokes Samir, his character in The Nanny from TF1
You shot the sequel to Nanny for TF1. Can you tell us what awaits Samir?
Samir, my character, moves to two new houses. He never knows where he'll land, but he'll have to sort things out. In the first, he arrives in a blended family whose mother is in the Anti-Crime Brigade and the father in the police. They have one child in common, but the others, born from previous unions, hate each other. In the other, he will look after the children of an aristocratic family.
May we wish this series of television films to have the same longevity as Joséphine, Guardian Angel or Camping Paradis ?
This is my 15 year old nanny dream, wish it for me! I have no problem with that, we watched these TV movies as a family. In The Nanny, you can say that I am like Joséphine, guardian angelwithout the powers, without the science fiction and with fewer special effects. I don't snap my fingers (he laughs).
You are also currently on tour with our new show Ah… School! What particular themes do you address?
I've been writing this show for 3 years. I had kind of put it aside while I was playing the old show. This theme touches me enormously and concerns everyone. This is what guides me in all my shows: people who come out of the performance tell me that all generations are represented. I compare my school to that of my son and therefore talk about the changes and the school bullying. I try to be funny and touching while also sending a warning signal. It's the role of the comedian to find funny angles on situations that are not.
