Francesco Farioli seems to be forced, but also voluntarily, to change Ajax’s line-up for the catch-up match against FC Utrecht. The defense seems to be partially overhauled.
According to Farioli, Devyne Rensch is not fully fit, making it unlikely that he will start against Utrecht. Anton Gaaei is then his logical replacement at right back. Against NEC, Ahmetcan Kaplan formed the center with Josip Sutalo, but it seems that Youri Baas will be next to the Croatian again on Wednesday. Remko Pasveer and Jorrel Hato will retain their starting place.
Farioli seems to have found his favorite triangle in midfield. The Italian seems to have found the right balance with Jordan Henderson, Davy Klaassen and Kenneth Taylor. This is at the expense of, among others, Kian Fitz-Jim, who also did not play against NEC. Against the Nijmegen team, Branco van den Boomen was on the field instead of Henderson. The English veteran seems to return against Utrecht.
In attack, Steven Berghuis seems to be getting some rest after playing a lot since his return. Bertrand Traoré seems to be replacing him. Farioli confirmed that Mika Godts is almost ready to make his return as a left winger, but the match against Utrecht is still too early. Chuba Akpom seems to start on the left. Wout Weghorst will most likely remain the striker.
FC Utrecht
Anthony Descotte and Matisse Didden are absent from FC Utrecht, Ron Jans reported earlier. The striker position therefore appears to be for Noah Ohio in the match against Ajax. Victor Jensen will then move into the number 10 position, making Miguel Rodriguez and Yoann Cathline wingers.
Presumed Ajax line-up: feather key; Gaaei, Baas, Sutalo, Hato; Henderson, Klaassen, Taylor; Traore, Weghorst, Akpom.
Probable line-up FC Utrecht: Barkas; Horemans, Van der Hoorn, Viergever, El Karouani; Fraulo, Aaronson, Jensen; Rodriguez, Ohio, Cathline.
