During his appearance in L'Heure des Pros this Tuesday, December 3, Patrick Sébastien made a moving revelation about a former conquest, who also happened to be the lover of François Mitterrand.
Invited to promote his new book The Carnival of the AmbitiousPatrick Sébastien did not only talk about his career. He also lifted the veil on a personal anecdote which, even today, seems to touch him deeply. The story goes back to the 80s, during a meeting with an activist singer with whom he shares a night of love. But the latter reveals an intimate secret to him: François Mitterrand is her lover. She even shows him letters, imbued with passion and a literary delicacy which seems to have marked the artist. “I would rather die for it (these letters) than live without it,” she allegedly confided to him. A statement that still resonates in the mind of Patrick Sébastien, touched by the beauty of these words. The presenter and singer evokes the love that François Mitterand had for this mysterious lover.
This secret of the heart, however, has not made waves in the public world. Patrick Sébastien, faithful to his principles, refused to reveal the identity of the mysterious woman. “I’m not going to tell you, I’m not a snitch,” he said during his exchange with Pascal Praud. The reference to this female figure remains unclear, but the artist remembers her with emotion and admiration. A “tremendous” woman, activist and deeply committed. During the interview, the columnists try to guess who it is, but nothing works, Patrick Sébastien will not say his name. He had already mentioned the same anecdote during his time at Buzz TV, keeping very tender words for this former affair.

An unexpected complicity with François Mitterrand
What is perhaps most surprising in this confession is the indirect link it weaves between Patrick Sébastien and François Mitterrand. Indeed, the artist remembers meeting the French president years later. A meeting which was marked by a form of offbeat complicity. In his revelations, the 70-year-old artist does not seek to expose secrets or cause a sensation. He just “tells stories,” he explained on the TV set. But beyond the anecdote, Patrick Sébastien reveals himself as a man who admires the women with whom he shared a moment of his life.
