It’s undoubtedly one of Netflix’s big hits at the end of the year. Unveiled on November 28, the series The Madness fascinates and captivates Netflix subscribers. If you have already devoured the 8 episodes of the first season, you probably only have one question in mind: will there be a sequel to the misadventures of Muncie Daniels? Here's everything we know.
Created by Stephen Belber, the series The Madness didn't take long to establish itself as one of the most viewed series of the moment on Netflix. Only 4 days after its release, the thriller series, unveiling a odious political conspiracy targeting journalist Muncie Daniels, played by Colman Domingo (The Walking Dead, Euphoria), is, at the time of writing, in first place on the Netflix content podium. So, can we hope for a sequel to the series, although described as a mini-series? Here are some answers.
As a reminder, The Madness follows Muncie Daniels, a successful African-American journalist, writer and television star. One day, our reporter discovers the lifeless body of Mark Simon (Tahmoh Penikett), a notorious white supremacist. Very quickly, Daniels finds himself trapped, wrongly accused of a murder he did not commit. A dizzying political game begins, with mysterious elites pulling the strings of a scandalous conspiracy…
A season 2 for The Madness? Actor Colman Domingo responds
Mixing thriller, intrigue, drama, without forgetting a good dose of action, the series The Madness is therefore a real hit on Netflix. If initially, the show is considered and described as a ''mini-series'', indicating that a renewal is not necessarily a logical and possible sequel, Colman Domingo, the talented actor playing Muncie Daniels, seems very cheerful at the idea of shoot a second season. During an interview recently given to our colleagues at Deadlinethe one who was awarded Best Actor at the 2024 Oscars for the biopic Bayard Rustin was very clear:
''Look, I don't say that often about a show, because I like to live in the moment, enjoy the good times, and then move on. But for this series, I think there's more to dig into with Muncie. I would really like to get involved in a season 2, so we'll see if people think there are still stories to tell. I hope the public will follow.''
You will have understood: if the feedback from the public as well as the audiences are there, a season 2 of The Madness could perfectly be considered. Even if nothing is obviously official and a sequel is not guaranteed, the results are very encouraging for the moment – we remind you that the series is currently number 1 ahead of The Empress, Arcane, The Cage, Adoration, Senna or the documentary Cold Case: Who killed the mini-miss?. In addition, the obvious desire of Colman Domingo to continue to play the journalist Muncie Daniels, exonerated of the murder at the end of the first season, could well tip the scales… Case to be continued.
