Karine Le Marchand rants and launches an appeal to help farmers

While the 19th season of Love is in the meadow ends this evening, Karine Le Marchand recalls that the lives of farmers remain marked by many difficulties. On Instagram, the host calls for mobilization.

This Monday, December 2, M6 will broadcast the last episode of the 19th season of Love is in the meadow. For almost two decades, Karine Le Marchand has been supporting farmers in their search for love. This evening again, viewers will discover touching stories and assessments filled with emotion, marked this season by eight couples formed. But the commitment of the flagship host of the Six goes beyond the framework of the show. Close to the farmers she has followed for years, Karine Le Marchand does not hide her concern about the growing precariousness of this profession. While a new documentary that she is hosting, The French, love and sexwill be broadcast on December 9, she turned to her subscribers on Instagram to draw their attention to the critical situation in the agricultural sector.

Love is in the meadow : Karine Le Marchand calls for general mobilization to help farmers

In a video published on Instagram, Karine Le Marchand wanted to make a rant, denouncing the lack of concrete measures to improve the daily lives of farmers: “Tonight is the last of L'amour est dans le pré. Thank you all for your loyalty. Thank you to the farmers for making us dream with these beautiful love stories. I would like to take this opportunity to make a little rant to help farmers because we should not forget them from tomorrow morning until the agricultural show. There are very few measures that have been implemented, measures, over the past year. The promises were not kept.” Presumably annoyed, she also called for collective action: “I need your opinion. I have lots of ideas and I think that change can come from the industry but especially from hypermarkets. Do you agree if I make a petition to support a project? (…) I need the support of the French and consumers to ask lots of things from hypermarkets.” In the description of her video, she adds: “I need you to help our farmers! Would you support a large-scale petition to insist on hypermarkets saving French agriculture as a priority?

Noémie, a farmer and former candidate for Love is in the meadow facing difficulties

If Karine Le Marchand sounds the alarm, recent testimonies from former candidates of Love is in the meadow also remind us of the daily challenges of farmers. Noémie, revealed during the 17th season, spoke in November about her worrying financial situation. On Instagram, the 25-year-old farmer expressed her frustration with administrative delays, particularly linked to a crucial subsidy for her farm: “We have to justify everything, from A to Z, down to the smallest detail. We must be accountable 24/7. But on the other hand, when we owe you things, when you do everything in order, well it doesn't follow behind, and we are the ones who pay the price..” Noémie had to make difficult decisions to provide for herself, starting with giving up the “project of his life” : “Last year was so complicated that we had to make choices. I made the choice to resell my land to be able to live a little. I knew that the construction project was no longer viable for me alone.”
