A day of strike by public sector agents is planned for Thursday, December 5 in the Rhône. A movement to which a large number of primary school teachers in the Rhône should join.
A “massive and majority” mobilization. The national unitary union of teachers and professors of Rhône schools (FSU-SNUipp 69) called on public sector agents to go on strike this Thursday, December 5.
According to the organization, 70% of primary school teachers will follow the mobilization in the department.
“These are estimates, because only 265 schools out of the 850 in the Rhône have increased their strike figures,” indicates the union in a press release, consulted by BFM Lyon.
The mobilization promises to be massive, because around a hundred schools in the department have already announced that their doors will remain closed this Thursday, assures the union.
A hundred schools closed
The reasons for this strike by public sector agents, launched at the call of an inter-union association, are multiple. Among them, the three waiting days instead of just one and the increase in remuneration for the first 3 months of sick leave to 90% instead of 100%.
“The argument of alignment with the private sector does not hold water because for at least two thirds of private sector employees, the waiting days are covered by the employer,” indicates the union.
Other points of contention, the class closures announced in the territory at the start of the next school year as well as the “prof bashing of the political class in general and of Kasbarian (Minister of the Civil Service, Editor's note) and Sarkozy in particular”, according to the union .
“I'm told 'there aren't enough civil servants in National Education', but that's incredible demagoguery. The status of school teacher (…) is 24 hours a week ” and “6 months of the year”, said the former President of the Republic during a conference in Saint-Raphaël, in the Var,
A demonstration is planned for this Thursday in Lyon. The departure of the procession will take place at 11 a.m. on Place Jean Macé.
