Marking the entry of Ligue 1 clubs, the draw for the round of 32 of the Coupe de France, the oldest competition, was made this Monday at the Parc des Princes.
PSG is putting its trophy back on the line. Record holder of the event, the capital club added a 15th Coupe de France to its list of achievements last season, at the end of a final won against Lyon (2-1), at Stade de France. Marking the entry into the running of Ligue 1 teams, the draw for the round of 32 took place this Monday at the Parc des Princes. Note that the 64 competing teams had previously been divided into three groups, including six L1 clubs.
A draw marked by an unbalanced poster to say the least between Petit Poucet of Union Saint-Jean FC, resident of Régional 1, who will face AS Monaco, third in the Ligue 1 standings. More unbalanced, it was not possible… A gift for the fans, gathered Monday evening to attend the draw and who exulted in front of the cameras of beIN SPORTS. «A dream for everyone» within this club, which has already received its Christmas present early. Also a regular in Regional 1, the Still-Mutzig Association will challenge the Ligue 1 team from Stade de Reims. “Champagne», exclaimed the president of the Alsatian team. Joy also for Tours FC (R1), who will have the (painful?) privilege of hosting Ligue 2 club Lorient.
Two 100% Ligue 1 shocks
It's not just clashes of two worlds. Simple Ligue 1 shocks too, with for example this poster between AS Saint-Étienne and OM, new runner-up to PSG. Speaking of the Parisian leader, not at best at the moment with disappointing results – particularly in the Champions League – and internal bickering, he will be entitled to a difficult poster to say the least in Lens. Luis Enrique's players beat the Sang et Or (1-0) recently, in L1. Note that the Girondins de Bordeaux, who fell to N2, will return to Ligue 1… for one evening, near Rennes. The round of 32 matches will take place on December 21 and 22, just before the winter break. The final is scheduled for May 24, 2025, at the Stade de France.
