Traffic is very disrupted in Lyon this Monday, December 2. Some taxis are demonstrating against the new rules that the government intends to put in place to regulate the transport of patients. The agreement currently being negotiated with health insurance provides for both lower medical transport prices et an obligation to use a shared taxi.
“There are two types of transport in the taxi. There are those who use city taxis and there are the vast majority who are more in small towns or small towns. And there, it's medical transport at 95 %, 99% of turnover. it's almost all“, explains Benoît Galliou, president of the Loire Taxi Union.
“We ultimately perform a bit of a public service. We have a duty, and that is what we are contesting with the new convention, we have a duty of support, service, quality. Logically, fully supporting the customer, and this is what will no longer be possible with the new agreement”, he laments. “In the new agreement, you should know that it is specified that they want to encourage, impose almost, shared transportation, but up to eight people. Can you imagine someone coming out of chemotherapy, who has very heavy care, and having to travel like a minibus to drop off clients? That, this is not acceptable“.
