The bus passengers injured in the Pyrénées-Orientales were almost all of Colombian nationality.
While the human toll of the Porté-Puymorens bus accident remained provisional this Monday, December 2, the President of the Republic of Colombia spoke about this tragedy which cost the lives of two people and while the majority of Passengers were Colombians living near Barcelona.
It was on X that Gustavo Petro, president of Colombia, spoke this Monday. “From the start, we worked in coordination with the ambassador to France and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs following the unfortunate accident in Porté-Puymorens (France),” he indicated. “Two people died and 31 Colombians were injured in this serious accident,” he recalled before sending a “message of support to their families”. “We will provide them with the necessary care,” Gustavo Petro promised again.

The bus was carrying a majority of Colombian nationals and was returning from Pas-de-la-Casa to return near Barcelona when it hit the cliff. In addition to the two people who died, the accident also caused 10 absolute emergency injuries and 32 relative emergency injuries. Three passengers were spared or very slightly injured.
A total of 47 people were on the bus, including the bus driver who suffered a crushed rib cage. Among the most seriously injured is a very young child aged 4 years old.
The most seriously injured victims were evacuated to hospitals in Perpignan, Toulouse, Foix, Puigcerdà and even Montpellier.
