The actress, who has not appeared on screen since 2017, confides to BFMTV her desire to make an animated film.

Audrey Tautou is preparing her return to the cinema. The star of Fabulous destiny of Amélie Poulain made this confidence this Monday in an interview with BFMTV on the occasion of the release of his book Superfacialwhere she reveals intimate photos of her career.

“I know that when I’m on a film set, I’m at home,” explains the actress whose last film role dates back to the release of the comedy On the loose by Pierre Salvadori in 2017.

“I have not decided to treat myself to an enchanted parenthesis because of my rejection of the profession of actress,” adds the actress, who lent her voice in 2023 to an animated film, Nina and the secret of the hedgehog.

Soon to be director

“Afterwards, you have to see. We are quickly forgotten. No one is irreplaceable,” she explains. “Anyway, I don't believe in actors saying goodbye to the cinema. It's still such a joy, such an adventure to make a film or to act that it's difficult to give it up.”

Audrey Tautou has written an animated film, which she intends to direct. “I wrote a story for children. I wanted to develop it into a screenplay (…) It allows you to be very creative, to have a lot of freedom.”

“I hope to be able to make it happen. It will take a long time because the time frame of the animation (is long),” she warns. “So see you in ten years! I’m not sure if you’ll see me again by then!”

Back

Audrey Tautou reduced her on-screen appearances in the 2010s, accepting small roles in comedies Open at night Édouard Baer et Santa and Co. by Alain Chabat.

In 2022, she made a rare public appearance at the AMI parade during Fashion Week. Last January, she also participated in six performances of Charlotte by David Foenkinos at the Seine musicale.
