The government of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation adopted on Friday the vacation and leave calendar for the 2025-2026 school year.
Particular point of attention: the schools of the FWB and Flanders will share a week in common during the relaxation holidays (Carnival), namely that of February 16 to 22, 2026. News which should please families who send their children to school in different communities.
For French-speaking compulsory education, the next autumn holidays (All Saints’ Day) will take place from Monday October 20, 2025 to Friday October 31, 2025. The Christmas holidays will take place from Monday December 22, 2025 to Friday January 2, 2026.
As for the relaxation holidays (Carnival), they will last from Monday February 16, 2026 to Friday February 27, 2026. Finally, the spring break (Easter) will begin on Monday April 27, 2026 and end on Friday May 8, 2026, almost a month after Easter Monday (April 6).
The school year will end, as is now customary, on the first Friday in July, i.e. July 3, 2026. The FWB school calendar was reorganized under the previous legislature with the aim of alternating periods of 6 to 8 weeks of classes with two weeks of vacation each time. The summer holidays have been reduced from 9 to 7 weeks.
Flanders and the German-speaking Community, on the other hand, remained on the traditional calendar, which resulted in a partial desynchronization of school holidays between the FWB and the other entities in the country.
