According to a media release from the St.Gallen cantonal police, it was reported on Wednesday evening that a woman in an apartment in an apartment building on Grünaustrasse in St.Gallen urgently needed help. The city police patrols came across a seriously injured 36-year-old Swiss man and a seriously injured woman in the apartment, who could not be immediately identified.

The rescue workers and emergency doctors brought both people to the hospital. Hanspeter Krüsi, media spokesman for the cantonal police, said when asked: “The two people underwent emergency surgery immediately in the hospital.” At the moment, the cantonal police do not believe there are any other people involved. Under the direction of the canton’s public prosecutor’s office, the cantonal police are now investigating the exact circumstances of the violent crime.

In addition to a large contingent of St. Gallen city and cantonal police, medical specialists and the professional fire brigade were called in to rescue patients.

The two have already triggered missions several times

The woman’s identity is now known: According to the latest communiqué, she is a 34-year-old Italian woman. She currently has no permanent residence in Switzerland, but has repeatedly stayed in the city of St.Gallen.

It is not the first time that the 34-year-old and the 36-year-old have come to the attention of the police, as can be seen from the communiqué. The St.Gallen city police have had to go to the two of them several times in recent years because of mutual assaults and damage to property.

The man’s health is stable. The woman is still in critical condition, according to a statement from the cantonal police.

The exact circumstances of the offense will be investigated and clarified under the direction of the public prosecutor. Due to the ongoing criminal proceedings, the police cannot provide any further information. (kapo/evw/viv)
