The Suncoast gobbles up fog at sunrise, making room for a picnic perfect Thanksgiving day

SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) – Thanksgiving morning will be cool, yet the warmest of the week. Expect low temperatures to stay in the low 60s for coastal cities, while inland areas dip to the upper 50s. Overnight fog will develop around 4 a.m. and dissipate after sunrise.

Once the fog leaves, Thanksgiving Day will feel warm with a mixture of sunshine and clouds. Expect high temperatures to reach 80 degrees. It will be a great day for outdoor picnics.

Foggy Morning(station)

Thanksgiving marks the best day for favorable boating conditions. Seas will run about a foot with a light chop. Winds increase slightly compared to Tuesday. They will reach ten knots. Beach conditions will be warm with a mixture of sun and clouds.

On Friday, the holiday conditions leave us as we head into the weekend. A cold front moves through bringing mostly cloudy skies and choppy boating conditions.

Boating Forecast(station)

The front loses steam by the time it arrives to the Suncoast, so rain chances remain slim on Friday. However, the winds increase to nearly 20 knots as we move into the weekend. And temperatures will drop to the the upper 60s on Saturday and Sunday due to cooler, drier air arriving. Boaters can expect Exercise Caution Statements or Small Craft Advisories as we head into the weekend with choppy conditions and seas running between two and five feet.

Travelers should pay attention to weather conditions at airports. Over the weekend a winter storm is making its way east across the Ohio Valley and into the northest. Mixed precipitation including rain and snow is expected in the north east and around the Great Lakes area. The southeast should be mostly favorable for travel, with southern states north of Florida receiving rain. Conditions at SRQ should be mostly favorable but breezy.
