AC Milan’s blushes were spared in some ways as they squeezed out a 3-2 win over Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League last night.
Milan continued in their winning ways in Europe as they came away with three points after three goals in the Slovakian capital, but it was not the straightforward game that many hoped against the bottom side.
Christian Pulisic opened the scoring in the first half but the Rossoneri were pegged back, then Rafael Leao and Tammy Abraham’s goals looked to have made it job done.
Slovan even went down to ten men, and then were somehow allowed to make it a nervy finish thanks to a late rocket strike, though Milan did hold on.

As you might expect after such a performance, the Italian media are not convinced by Milan and have chosen to focus on Leao, given he came off the bench and proved to be decisive.
La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Milan climb. Leao wakes them up in Bratislava, ‘I don’t like being on the bench’.”
Corriere dello Sport: “Leao wakes Milan up. Fonseca beats Slovan 3-2. Paulo, no progress.”
Tuttosport: “Leao uncorks Milan and gets Fonseca out of trouble. ‘I don’t like being on the bench’ The coach: ‘He knows why’. Pulisic and Abraham also scored, but the defence was a horror.”
