Things are getting tough for the Barnier government. While the Social Security budget (PLFSS) was adopted on Tuesday afternoon in the Senate, there are now as many scenarios as there are uncertainties for the executive. In particular on the timetable for a possible motion of censure, which would overthrow the Prime Minister.

A possibility from next week

This Wednesday, a joint committee must bring together seven deputies and seven senators to try to find an agreement on the PLFSS. If no consensus is found, the parliamentary shuttle would then continue its journey: the text would return for a new reading in the Assembly and would a priori have no chance of being adopted within the time limit set by the Constitution. The government could therefore pass the various measures contained in this bill by ordinance.

If a consensus emerges, the PLFSS would return first to the Palais Bourbon, then to the Senate next week. With a vote normally scheduled for Wednesday, December 4 in the Hemicycle of the Lower House
