What the hell happened to Manchester City? After 5 losses in a row, the English champion finally seemed on the way to a satisfying victory, but in the end things went completely wrong against Feyenoord. Defensive tampering heralded a comeback to 3-3, Pep Guardiola just barely jumped out of his skin.
The disbelief was evident on every face at the Etihad Stadium. What had just happened in Manchester City-Feyenoord?
The home team had climbed to a threefold lead just before and just after halftime. Erling Braut Haaland scored a penalty and with his celebration underlined how deep the frustration ran. Gundogan made it 2-0, Haaland made it 3-0 himself.
Job done, everyone thought. Kevin De Bruyne got his playing time as a substitute. And more importantly: that oh-so-frustrating series of 5 defeats in a row was finally thrown into the trash.
At least that’s how it seemed, because no one had taken into account a crazy slot in Manchester. Gvardiol started messing around – not for the first time in recent weeks – and made Feyenoord 3-1.
When Gimenez was able to score the 3-2 into an empty goal after yet another lousy defending, Guardiola already felt the mood brewing. He grabbed his head like crazy. Not again?
But the chalice must be emptied to the bottom for Manchester City, as it turns out. Because deep in the end, Hancko completed the strong comeback of the Dutch. It became completely silent at the Etihad, the demons have not yet been chased away.
