Simen (32) and Larissa (30) started the experiment with promise, but especially in the last three episodes you saw the chances of success of this match evaporate. The irritation about Simen’s lax communication still resonated. Still, the two tried to end on a high note with a visit to the famous Lekdreef in Averbode. “I have been quieter in recent days, I have not been the cheerful, spontaneous Larissa,” said the Tienen. “I regret not showing that. I was always concerned with how I came across.”

Simen seemed to have resigned himself to the impending verdict and seemed to have already given it a place. “I have encountered myself dozens of times, but I have no regrets and would do it all over again,” he said.
“It feels double for me,” said Larissa. “On the one hand, I am relieved after those intense weeks. On the other hand, did we get the most out of it? Could we have done more?”

The night before the decision moment, in a phone call with his mother, Simen admitted that he is not in love with Larissa. “Although I can see that she is a good woman. Maybe if there had been more time it could have become something.”
Larissa realized why she was paired with Simen. “Although we never really talked about it. But we are both family people and the caring type. Two pleasant, social people. I describe him as the atmosphere maker of the group. With the heart in the right place. However, there was never a moment during those weeks when I thought about intimacy. He didn’t push me in that either. If he had done that, I might have completely shut down.”
Simen thought the decision was still quite difficult. He said he was grateful to Larissa because she had shown that you can approach a relationship differently (compared to the ex-partner with whom Simen was together for ten years, ed.). “She showed that there is no need to ignore myself. The marriage is ending, but I hope for a beautiful friendship.”

During the decision moment, Simen barely managed to say his lines because of the tears and emotions. But the outcome was the same for both: it was decided not to continue this process.
Start 2.0
The three other couples were not yet ready to make a decision. The previous episode ended with sexologist Wim Slabbinck taking a break in the marriage of Jonas (29) and Britt (26). They now saw each other again after a long break.
“The past few days have been good,” said Britt. “Finally catching up on sleep, moments of rest for myself and being able to sort everything out without Jonas around.”

Jonas also noticed that this break was good. “To give this marriage another chance, we separated. Had we continued to the end, the bomb would certainly have exploded.” But did he give their marriage another chance? “I find it difficult to estimate how Britt thinks. Is it a new beginning or just completing this experiment properly? I’m certainly trying to find my peace. It’s not that I now think everything is for the trash. Things can change quickly.”
They met again at Jonas’ home. The difference from previous episodes was night and day. The atmosphere was immediately different, much more relaxed. This is how it should have been episodes earlier. Suddenly they could have fun and had fun cooking.

And so it became a pleasant, carefree evening. Plans were even made for the rest of their time together. “We’ll see what happens. And keep trying with what’s left between us,” Britt said. But sleeping together in one bed was a step too far for Britt. After which an original compromise was negotiated. “I sleep on my air mattress. Or we put tents in the garden,” Jonas suggested. An idea that Britt was fond of.
Wrongly expressed
Jidse (27) and Jorina (32) were instructed two episodes ago to let go of each other for a few days and investigate how much they would miss each other. While she was away with friends and was looking forward to returning to her husband, Jidse was mostly tossing and turning at night. “I was out with friends and didn’t think much about her. I thought the effect would be much greater. After our stay in Italy, I thought I had put the puzzle together about my feelings for her. But now I am once again faced with issues that I cannot place, that I cannot identify in my head. It’s hard for me to talk about it. I wonder why the desire isn’t greater.”

Jidse explained that to Jorina, but got completely stuck after some unfortunate statements. Jorina was clearly hurt. “I didn’t see this coming. I didn’t know we were at this point. He had already talked about the future,” she responded.
Jidse realized what he was doing. “The more I said, the more she was shocked. She even got a little anxious.”

Jorina
“I had a hard time putting his words into words. Is he going to say something different during the decision moment?” The mill in Jorina’s head was running at full speed. “I built a defensive wall that night.”
A day later, Jidse did everything he could to start the conversation right away, because he saw that Jorina was still shocked.
“That conversation reassured me. I saw that it was bothering him too,” she said with relief. This time Jidse was able to express himself better. “I still see the potential from day one. And much more. I worded it too bluntly.”
Another ‘yes’?
A decision also has to be made for Thomas (31) and Karlien (31). After a rough start and a hesitant Karlien, things are now close between the two. “It seems like we have been together for a year,” said the Limburg woman. “I am proud of the path we have completed. And that is Thomas’s merit. He has given me all the space and time, with a lot of respect and trust. Without his efforts it would not have been possible.”

Do we hear a statement there that suggests the best for the moment of decision? We’ll hear next week.
