Jérémy Frérot looks back on his separation from Laure Manaudou and the challenges of his reconstruction. After nine years of living together, the singer announced his separation from Laure Manaudou last April. Parent of two children, Lou and Sacha, whom he had with the former swimmer, the 34-year-old single dad had to rebuild his life. And what better than song to talk about this long journey.

In his new album, titled Sand Kid in reference to the Arcachon Basin where it originates, Jérémy Frerot shared with his audience the difficulties he encountered. Through the title Adieu in particular, which he chose as the first title of the album, he recounts his separation: It was the song that kind of started all the others.”he declared before explaining: “I was in the studio, but I was disturbed, a little lost. I had just experienced an intense emotional change in my personal life and I started writing on this subject. It came out very naturally. I wrote down what my children were told by their mother to tell them that we were going to change our lives.”.

Depression, illness… Jérémy Frérot opens up about his health

A separation that he had difficulty overcoming. And putting words to what he was experiencing was not easy for Jérémy Frérot. When recording the song Adieuhe confided to Tele-Leisure be “fell very ill, in ten minutes” : “I had a fever, I was shaking”. The singer from the Arcachon Bay then continued: “It was difficult but, after that song, all the others came out at once. Releasing Adieu as the first single was quite logical because it shows in what state I started my album and in what state I wrote everything else. I think it's a great introduction.”.

If the separation was a difficult period for him, the singer mentioned in the rest of the interview that he had already experienced fragilities in the past, at the time of his arrival in in particular with his sidekick, Flo Delavega. “When, with Flo Delavega, we signed with a record company, I moved to Paris and it was very, very hard for me to leave the Arcachon basin, which I had never done. I fell into depression in the first months because I no longer felt the sea”he explained in complete transparency.
