A teenager was injured Monday morning shortly before 10 a.m., with scissors by another student in his class at the Edgar Quinet high school, in Bourg-en-Bresse, in Ain. The student was beaten following an argument which broke out in a classroom, the rectorate said. The perpetrator of the attack was arrested by the police and taken into custody. “A judicial investigation is underway,” said the Ain prefecture.
The injured man, aged 15, was slightly injured in the throat and transferred to hospital without his life being in danger, firefighters said, confirming information from the regional daily Progress. “The students in the class are subject to specific support within the establishment,” specified the Ain prefecture while expressing, with the rector and the academic director of the National Education services, “its support for the student victim”.
Edgar-Quinet high school remains open and continues to welcome students for the rest of the day. The president of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region Fabrice Pannekoucke will visit this public establishment this afternoon which has around 1,300 high school and BTS students, the region indicated in a press release.
