“Freedom of expression has never allowed everything,” said Didier Migaud, guest of “4V” on Monday.
La France insoumise has tabled a bill to repeal the offense of advocating terrorism. “I am resolutely against it”, reacted Didier Migaud, Minister of Justice, guest of “4 V” Monday November 25. “I don’t understand how we can let our guard down in the face of the threat of terrorism which is very present today”he adds. “From the moment the apology consists of justifying, excusing, finding mitigating circumstances for a terrorist act, it is unacceptable”argues the Minister of Justice.
According to LFI deputy Ugo Bernalicis, author of the proposal, the law would have become a tool to suppress freedom of expression. “Freedom of expression has never allowed everything”replies Didier Migaud, according to whom the repeal of the offense of apologizing for terrorism would free up anti-Semitic speech in particular. The socialists, although members of the New Popular Front alongside LFI, announced that they would oppose this initiative.
