Al-Hussein Youabed, responsible for communication at the General Directorate of Meteorology, confirmed in a statement to “Code” that during the end of this week, temperatures witnessed a significant rise in the south and center of the country and also extended to the northern Atlantic plains of the country. This phenomenon comes after a cold period during the past weeks.

The spokesman believes that “the sudden transition to hot weather is considered the result of a dynamic change in the distribution of air pressure at the regional level in the air high centered over North Africa, which causes, in parallel with a low in western Europe, to push hot and dry air masses towards Morocco, which led to a rise in temperatures and gusts of wind.” Moderate to strong southerly conditions in the Atlantic plains contributed to the rise of these hot masses from the Sahara desert towards the southern, central and northern regions of the country.

According to Yoabed, the recorded temperatures exceeded the seasonal average by 5 to 10 degrees, especially in the Souss region, the southern regions, and the Atlantic plains. Temperatures between 30 and 35 degrees were recorded on the coasts, which is close to the record temperature for the month of November, as it was recorded in Rabat at 34.0 degrees, and the seasonal average is 20 degrees, and recorded in Mohammedia at 33.4 degrees, which is a new record for the month of November.

As for Monday’s forecast, relatively high temperatures will continue in the Souss region, the southern regions, and the northern and central interior plains, while temperatures will gradually decrease in the northern and central regions.

As for tomorrow, Tuesday, the weather will remain relatively hot in the Souss region and the southern regions, and temperatures will gradually decrease to return to their seasonal levels in the middle of the week.
