Kendji Girac in “A Sunday in the Country” looks back on his gunshot wound and how he managed to escape, November 24, 2024.
PEOPLE – From now on, he wants to live. Six months after his serious gunshot wound, singer Kendji Girac, who recently released his new album Vivre, told how he got through it thanks to the love of his family and fans on the show A Sunday in the countryside, broadcast this Sunday, November 24 on France 2.
The former winner of The Voice explained that after the shooting last April, he “cut off from everything”. “I didn’t watch TV for a month, nor my phone. I really needed to take the time and recharge my batteries. The only thing I needed was my wife, my daughter, my family.”he explains to host Frédéric Lopez, who asked him how he experienced the media coverage of his affair.
“It’s simply love that rebuilt me at an incredible speed”he continues, also talking about the public support that he was afraid of losing. “It feels weird, it’s the first time I’ve talked about it,” he adds, very moved. And to continue: “It allowed me to come back, because there are people who adore me and I can only thank them, thank life for giving me so much strength. »
“Now I am happy as ever. I'm really enjoying it because I have a flame lit deep in my heart that is even bigger than before. I feel that every day”he assures.
Dany Boon tries a joke
Frédéric Lopez then talks to him about his partner, Soraya Miranda. It was following an argument with her, and while he was under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, that he accidentally shot himself in the chest, according to him. The 28-year-old singer initially claimed to have wanted “ fake suicide » after a domestic dispute before changing his version of the facts. The procedure was dismissed.
“My wife was there every moment, every moment, she gave me strength and tenderness. She was shocked by what was said, because none of it was true. She is a very strong woman who managed to get me to my feet.”affirms the artist. And to finish: “Life has taught me to enjoy every moment. You can learn from your mistakes and come back stronger (…). At the end of the tunnel, there is always this light that will welcome us and enlighten us forever. »
Dany Boon, also a guest on the show, concluded the sequence with a remark that was intended to be humorous. “Well there will be no selection for the Olympic Games in shooting for 2028, that’s ruined”blurted the actor, making the whole table laugh. Even Kendji Girac responded jokingly: “I don’t know how to shoot anyway!” »
