A week after winning in Levi, Clément Noël scored another victory this Sunday during the Gurgl slalom. In Austria, the Frenchman was imperial, while Steven Amiez (4th) narrowly missed getting on the podium.
It’s a dream start to the season that Clément Noël is achieving. Indeed, after having obtained a first success during the slalom of Levi (Finland), last Sunday, the French skier continued this time by winning the slalom in Gurgl (Austria). This Sunday, in Tyrol, after crushing the competition in the morning during the first round (he was almost a second ahead of his main rivals), the Vosges rider did not fail afterwards and therefore made the doubled and with style. Because, at the finish, Noël finished with a good lead ahead of the Swede Kristoffer Jakobsen (at 0''43) and the Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath (at 0''44), while his compatriot Steven Amiez is at the foot of the podium (4th, 0''60), which is his best performance. The worst part of all this is that the Frenchman was not completely happy with himself this Sunday morning.
Christmas is already better than the last three seasons
“I expected a lot better after the recognition,” he explained a little earlier, speaking to Eurosport. After a 2023-24 season ended without a victory but with four podiums, Christmas is off to a very high start and is already more successful in 2024-25 than in the last three seasons (two, in Val d'Isère and Schladming). In fact, we had to go back to 2020-21 to see the Vosges have two victories in the same year. With this 12th success in the World Cup, the Frenchman therefore already takes a small lead over the Norwegian Henrik Kristoffersen, 6th this Sunday, in the ranking of the small globe of the specialty. From now on, the skiers will head to Colorado (United States), where the next three events will take place at Beaver Creek with, normally, a downhill (December 6), a Super G (the 7th) and a giant (the 8).
