The Normandy public works school (Saint-Paterne and Rouen), which has 450 apprentices, organized on Thursday November 14, 2024, a regional selection of apprentice candidates in urban planning and pipeline networks, who will compete in pairs in a team made up of a pipeline network builder and a road and urban development builder in September 2025 in Marseille.
Six pairs participated
To obtain this selection, the apprentices had a 7-hour test. Twelve candidates from six pairs participated, on a voluntary basis, in a 7-hour test on a subject that they have to deal with and implement in connection with their training. Monitoring is carried out throughout the day by two trainers for technical support and two jurors to evaluate the candidates.
explains Bruno Fernandes, director of ETPN.
A plus on the CV
A collective challenge for a profession of the future in these regional selections which are not only a competition, they are also a unique opportunity for apprentices and professionals in the sector to discover professions essential to the construction and maintenance of infrastructures, and for an apprentice participation in WorldSkills, referenced in a CV, is not negligible
underlines Marion Reulet, communications manager.
A route already mapped out
Hugo Denise, 22 years old, sees very far in this participation: I was asked to take part in this qualification and I said to myself why not, and I'm happy even if this job can be difficult, I'm passionate about teamwork with possible development, I'm in BAC Pro. It is for me an enriching experience to work in pairs and I am going to enroll in a BTS course, with the aim of being a site manager and taking over the family business in the Rouen region, while we have a schedule busy for the next eight years with the future construction site of an EPR 2 in Penly (Seine-Maritime)
underlines the young apprentice who will represent his school and Normandy, in September in Marseille.
