Urios: “we were superior,”
Christophe Urios (ASM) : “I found that in mentality, we were superior, tough throughout the match even if we had complicated periods. This is what made the difference, especially up front. We knew we could hurt them, but I didn't think that much. We were far superior to them in direct conquest. We didn't have the match we wanted in terms of produced play, but we were very present in robustness. However, we had a lousy warm-up. The forwards carried the team, which is good news for the rest of the season. It's a match that will help us. This match validates our start to the season. Going green brought bonding between the guys, with the staff too. »
Gengenbacher: “We suffered too much from the physical challenge”
Fabien Gengenbacher (LOU) : “We suffered too much in the density, in the contact zones, in conquest to win this match. But we maintained a level of effort to win this match, of combativeness. Clermont upset us too much in the ruck zones to put our game in place. The turning point of the match is when we score and, 4 penalties later, we take a try and a card. If we score on this carried ball, the appearance at the end of the first half is no longer the same. We had brand opportunities that we were unable to seize. Sometimes we rushed. We endured too much of the physical challenge. We wanted to set the pace, we had possessions in the right areas which we were unable to capitalize on. We're going to stay together, we're going on a 3-day training course, we're going to change things, we're missing things, it's making our game evolve with real changes. We will find our internationals, all our strength. »
Kaabèche: “We lacked details and precision”
Hemza Kaabèche (LOU) : “We didn't know how to score at the right time, we lacked details and precision. We make a lot of mistakes, it costs us two attempts, he still works on discipline. We will be united and work together. We have two attempts refused, it’s frustrating. We work hard, but we make a lot of mistakes which cost points. We need to erase that. It makes us stay united, we have four defeats in a row, it’s up to us to tighten up. »
Tchaptchet: “We make too many mistakes”
Alexandre Tchaptchet (LOU) : “I don’t know if we should have regrets. We made too many mistakes, too much indiscipline, we couldn't win with all these defeats. We were caught on carried balls. There is no crisis but we are on four defeats in a row, we have to stay united and look for points everywhere. We haven't been precise in the details since the start of the season, efforts without discipline lead to nothing. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't, like tonight. »
Jauneau: “Our forwards were very strong”
Etienne Fourcade (ASM) : We are obviously very happy to win, especially since it is our first away victory, which is what we came for in Lyon. There are still a lot of things to resolve in the content, on our camp outings for example. We managed to be fairly consistent over 80 minutes, even if we had two or three air gaps where they came back. It was a really solid game from us. We've been preparing for this match for 10 days, we responded as a team. We knew we had to press the mauls, it was something that worked.
Baptiste Jauneau (ASM) : “It could be a turning point, we have to take advantage of this victory, we were a little tired of looking like painters on the outside. We knew that Lyon had a lot of absentees, we wanted to bring home points. We played like a team, we never gave up. Our forwards were very strong, and Antho (Belleau) took responsibility at the end. We didn't panic. This going green has brought us. We were under a lot of pressure in the first half, but we were efficient. »
