The snow that fell the day before was not right in the last match of the year at the Stade Michel d'Ornano. Stade Malherbe Caen hosted on Friday November 22, 2024 for validate his last few good weeks. Despite errors paid for in cash, the Caennais didn't give up and snatched a deserved point (3-3).

A mistake paid for in cash

Caen has control of the ball at the start of the meeting. From the 1st minute, Bilal Brahimi launched Alexandre Mendy deep. The Caen striker fixes his defender and strikesforcing Mpasi to divert for a corner. A few minutes later, Brahimi and Mendy, again, a two for one to negotiate. The number 10 tries to shift his attacker, but Mambo Muzaliboja diverts to his goalkeeper. By hand? This is what the Caennais are demanding without success (4′). Caen continues the times of possession without finding the fault and ended up backing down. The weed defense procrastinates and Noé Lebreton commits the fatal error. The midfield pass falls at the feet of Ibrahime Baldé who finds himself alone facing Yannis Clémentia. The Caen goalkeeper initially wins, but the Ruthenian striker can take over and open the score despite the return of Brahim Traoré (0-1, 12′).

Picked cold, SM Caen tries to react. Quentin Lecoeuche sends a good cross to the far post. The control of the Rodez defender is questionable and Daylam Meddah can throw himself on the ball. The Caen right-back stumbles, but the referee still doesn't whistle (17′). Caen retained possession in this first period, but without being particularly dangerous. Smoke bombs launched from the Borelli stand interrupt the match for a few minutes (22′). At the end of the half, Caen continued to push and Tidiam Gomis was found by Alexandre Mendy, but the U19 international's shot was too soft to worry Mpasi (39').

In added time, consequent following the interruption of the matchAlexandre Mendy cannot head the ball back from a good cross from Quentin Lecoeuche. But Rodez's defense struggles to clear and Mendy is finally able to strike. The post saves Rodez which will immediately double the stakes. The cross from the left crosses the defense and Bouchouari can take over with first intention. The strike is blocked and deceives Clémentia to further chill d'Ornano's mood (0-2, 45'+3). By pushing, Caen ended up reducing the gap thanks to a header from Romain Thomas on a good cross from Bilal Brahimi (1-2, 45+7).

A terrible lack of success

The Weeders have set the record straight from the start. Bilal Brahimi, well found at the penalty spot by Noé Lebreton crosses his shot well to deceive Mpasi and bring the Rouge et Bleu back up to par (2-2, 51′). The Michel d'Ornano stadium exults, but quickly comes back to earth when Nkada is found and presents himself to Clémentia. The Matiquais goalkeeper repels the shot, but Didi Gaucho's clearance is blocked and falls at the feet of the Rodez attacker who this time finds the net (2-3, 54′).

Actions become rarer until the hour mark when a new blocked clearance benefits a Rodez attacker, but Clémentia can divert for a corner (67′). A few minutes later, Godson Kyeremeh attacks on the left, but his low cross is too long for Alexandre Mendy (73'). The Caen attacks are more and more dangerous, but neither Mendy (77′) nor Le Bihan manage to fit (79′). Bilal Brahimi in small spaces manages to put the ball in the axis towards Alexandre Mendy who once again is a little short to mark (82′).

Caen continues to push, like Godsonn Kyeremeh who infiltrates the surface but whose strike is diverted (90'+2). The last successive corners in stoppage time yielded nothing, until this last attempt at the end of the suspense. Daylam Meddah takes a ball poorly cleared by the Rodez defense and equalizes to the delight of refrigerated supporterss (3-3, 90+5).

The last of the year at the Michel d'Ornano stadium did not go as well the fifteen thousand brave people who faced the cold were hoping for it, but at least they saw a team that fought until the end. SM Caen still has three trips to negotiate before the breakincluding one in Pavilly to face Bolbec in the Coupe de on Saturday November 30, 2024.
