They had so much fun! “Special Envoy” celebrates 50 years of Splendid

There are four of them on the stage of the theater which bears the name of their group of friends, the Splendid. In “Envoyéspecial”, they celebrate 50 years of career with Elise Lucet, and speak about the disappearance of Michel Blanc.
He's not yet 50… Le Splendid is celebrating half a century of fun with a book, The Splendid by the Splendid – We had so much fun! (ed. Le Cherche midi). The profits from its sales will be donated to the Foundation for Medical Research, of which Thierry Lhermitte is the godfather.
For the occasion, Thierry Lhermitte, Gérard Jugnot, Josiane Balasko and Bruno Moynot are gathered on the stage of the Théâtre du Splendid, in Paris. With Elise Lucet, they look back on an adventure that allowed them to realize their dreams – if only that of “go on stage” or, as for Thierry Lhermitte, of “meet a family, be happy with friends”. Car “laughter is like windshield wipers, adds “La Jugne”, It doesn’t stop the rain, but it allows us to move forward.”
What is the secret of their unstoppable lines, which 90% of French people, according to Elise Lucet, know by heart? What is the recipe for titles as “crazy” successful as “Santa Claus is trash”… not to mention all those we have escaped? And today, who are their favorite stand-up comedians?
Between nostalgia for a time when the second degree was welcome (“Some of your jokes wouldn't pass muster at all today!” points out Elise Lucet), memories of dunces and late recognition with the César of 2021, the actors of course evoked the absent: Michel Blanc, if “serious”, with whom Thierry Lhermitte prepared “all the jokes”. And “dialoguiste hors pair” passed away on October 4, 2024 at the age of 72. On the day of his funeral, “in the church, we had the impression that he was with us. It was absurd to think that he was in this box…”
