The winter season was officially launched this Thursday, November 21 with the first snow in Burgundy. A particularly delicate day on the Burgundian roads with numerous accidents. And Friday doesn't look good either.
Further snowfall is forecast during the first part of the night. 3 to 5 cm of snow are expected in the plains, 5 to 10 cm on the heights. “The most delicate point will be the refreezing in the second half of the night. Even areas with little snow will experience traffic difficulties.” You will therefore have to be extra careful.
Will we find the same weather conditions this Friday, November 22? This is not what the Météo-France website indicates. Apart from a few flakes forecast near Tonnerre in Yonne, it should not snow this Friday in Burgundy according to forecasts.
In terms of temperatures, they should turn positive across the entire region from the afternoon. It will even be up to five degrees in Mâcon and Chalon-sur-Saône, as well as in Nevers. The sun should make its appearance again throughout Burgundy.
Milder temperatures and conditions, but it must be remembered that these are only forecasts. And regarding snow and ice alerts, Météo France announces the color directly: it is orange for Nièvre, Yonne and Côte-d'Or until midday tomorrow. Only Saône-et-Loire is on yellow alert.
Consequently, the prefectures of Yonne, Côte-d'Or and Nièvre prohibit the circulation of school transport vehicles on Friday morning “ctaking into account snowfall and the risk of ice.”
In Yonne, the maximum authorized speed is reduced by 20 km/h, with a ban on overtaking or changing lanes when the road is covered with snow or ice, or even partially.
On Côte-d'Orienne and Icaunaise roads, the maximum authorized speed is limited to 70 km/h for vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes used for the transport of people and goods. In Nièvre, the prefecture has taken the decision to prohibit their circulation until Friday 12 p.m. In Côte-d'Or, it is prohibited to overtake on the Dijon ring road.
The public is encouraged to avoid non-essential travel during this period and to follow the recommendations of security services. For those who must travel, it is advisable to remain vigilant, slow down and keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
