Ain, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, Ariège, Aude, Doubs, Gard, Haute-Garonne, Hérault, Isère, Jura, Loire, Lozère, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Hautes-Pyrénées, Rhône, Saône-et-Loire, Savoie and Haute-Savoie are affected by this alert.
Note that some of these departments are also subject to several other vigilance measures, such as snow and ice.
In its latest bulletin, Météo-France estimated that the passage of the Caetano depression, “the westerly wind sets in at the very beginning of Thursday on the Atlantic coast, then progresses quickly towards the east of the country on a Poitou-Charentes/Northern Alps axis”.
Thus gusts “generally reaching 110 to 120 km/h on the coast of the departments placed on orange vigilance, up to 130 to 140 km/h in the south of Brittany, and occasionally a little more on the exposed islands and capes (…). In Corsica, the westerly wind will strengthen again in the evening, this episode of wind will be briefer and less strong than the previous one but it could still cause damage with gusts of around 100 to 130 km/h , and even 160 to 180 km/h on Cap Corse.
