“Take the bull by the horns.” During the Great Europe 1-CNews interview this Thursday, the Minister of the Interior returned to his commitment against drug banditry, a major theme since he took office in September. Bruno Retailleau and Didier Migaud, the Minister of Justice, have also unveiled a series of measures to fight against the “multifaceted, growing, sprawling threat (…)” of drug trafficking.
A text examined in the Senate
“Today, all the territories are gangrenous, all of them. The senatorial report was very clear and we clearly saw that a certain number of professions, in the public as well as in the private sector, were beginning to be affected by phenomena of corruption So we have to take the bull by the horns. There will be a text that will be examined in the Senate, the result of the work of the commission of inquiry that I myself commissioned when I was president of the LR group in the Senate. , details the minister from the Interior at the microphone of Sonia Mabrouk. The proposals will focus in particular on the issue of minors and police intelligence resources.
“We are going to give ourselves the same instruments that we gave ourselves ten years ago with terrorism, it's the same thing. I want the same start that we had, the rearmament of A sovereign state that we operated, to fight against terrorism,” he pleads. Jointly with Didier Migaud at the beginning of November, Bruno Retailleau had already announced additional resources for the police and justice in the fight against drug trafficking.
“The teams of the Paris public prosecutor's office working on the fight against organized crime at the national level will thus be reinforced by 40%,” announced the Minister of Justice.
Fight against “habitual offenders”
In a five-page document that Europe 1 consulted, the “first cop in France” also asks the prefects for an “action plan” for January 15 to fight against everyday delinquency. A plan to target in particular “habitual offenders” in order to concentrate the efforts of the police and then the justice system.
“Habitual delinquents are those who ruin the lives of the French. To be clear, we have a terrible statistic: between 5 and 10% of these habitual delinquents, the repeat offenders, are at the origin of at least 50 % of delinquent acts. What I want is for them to be apprehended. Then, justice must do its job because once we have a 50% drop in crimes. acts of delinquency, we breathe a little more, so we will target better” and meet the set objectives, details Bruno Retailleau.
The minister also intends to continue the Clean Place operations “in their spirit” and make them “long-term and in the search for concrete results”.
