Winning coaching for Lyon.
A week after its big victory (0-3) on the other side of the Alps, Olympique Lyonnais conceded its first goal in all competitions for two months but ensured victory against AS Roma thanks to their substitutes Diani and Le Sommer (4-1) during the fourth day of the Champions League. With this fourth victory in as many matches in the competition, Joe Montemurro's players are now officially qualified for the quarter-finals and very well on their way to retaining first place in their group, while waiting to find out their future opponent.
Decisive replacements
We had to wait until the last quarter of an hour of play to see the match get carried away… but in an unexpected way. It was the Italian club which opened the scoring in Lyon with its first shot on target through the young Giulia Dragoni who entered nine minutes earlier (0-1, 74e). Lyon were afraid for just three minutes before Kadidiatou Diani, who also entered shortly after the hour mark, equalized in quick succession. (1-1, 77e) then give the advantage to Fenottes (2-1, 79e) on two corners. A few dozen seconds after her entry, and for her first ball, Eugénie Le Sommer added her stone to the building by scoring a sublime goal in the top corner (3-1, 88e) on a decisive pass from… Diani before another Frenchwoman, Wendie Renard, took part in the offensive festival in added time (4-1, 92e).
Five goals in the last quarter of an hour, we shouldn't have fallen asleep in the first half.
