After its defeat this afternoon, synonymous with non-qualification for CAN 2025, the Guinean Football Federation (Feguifoot) immediately appealed to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to disqualify Tanzania, citing a “foul administrative” during the match.
The dispute concerns the error linked to the registration of the Tanzanian player Muhamed Ibrahim Ame. On the match sheet, he appeared under number 24, but he played with number 26. An error which could have serious consequences. Indeed, according to article 47 of the regulations of the African Cup of Nations, an administrative error in the registration of players may result in the suspension of the national association concerned for the current competition, as well as the elimination of his team if the fault is proven.

Internal sources at Feguifoot specify that before the match kicked off, the commissioner had checked the passport of a Tanzanian player wearing the number 24. The question that now arises is whether the change of number is the result of a player substitution or a simple administrative error.
CAF now faces a complex appeal and will have to decide on this matter, with Guinea hoping to see Tanzania’s victory annulled and a disqualification pronounced. The outcome of this situation could have a major impact on the progress of the competition.
