Anderlecht faces a solid challenge this Sunday: the Mauve & Blanc host La Gantoise, ranked just behind them. You will need to avoid losing feathers.
Anderlecht turned things around in the league, with two convincing wins in a row against Kortrijk and Cercle de Bruges. The reception of La Gantoise this Sunday will, however, be a real test for David Hubert, who has suffered against the “big guys” in the league so far.
The Buffalos have only one point less than the Mauves, while Mechelen is lying in wait two points behind. Losing feathers could therefore see Anderlecht tumble in the ranking and hamper the beautiful mechanism put in place before the international break.
Fortunately for Hubert, two important returns should be noted. The Last Hour informs us that Samuel Edozieinjured against Cercle, will indeed be available for Sunday’s match. The English winger had started in the two great victories against the Kerels and the Groen & Zwart, and is therefore making his mark in the hierarchy on the flanks.
Leander Dendonckerwho has been absent for several weeks, will also make his return. The midfielder (and makeshift defender) had missed the trips to Riga and Cercle de Bruges, but will therefore be able to hold his place. It remains to be seen whether it will be at the back – the Zanka-Simic duo seeming to be making their mark – or, finally, in the midfield.
Anderlecht faces La Gantoise at Lotto Park this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The start of an important series since the Mauves then host FC Porto on Thursday, before traveling to OHL then hosting Westerlo in the round of 16 of the Belgian Cup.
