Real Madrid forward Brahim Diaz scored a first-half hat-trick in Morocco’s 7-0 victory over Lesotho in their AFCON qualifier on Monday.
Brahim — who came off a great performance on Friday where he scored two goals against Gabon — was the star yet again as he put Morocco on the front foot before going off for Ayoub El Kaabi in the 62nd minute.
Morocco proved to be far too much for Lesotho, who were clearly struggling from the get-go.
Brahim scored his first goal in the fifth minute and his second in the 15th to give Morocco a big cushion, before completing his hat-trick in the 42nd minute of the game.
He scored two goals with his right and one with his left, all of them were fairly simple as they took advantage of Lesotho’s poor defending and the mismatch in quality between the two sides.
When he came off, Brahim had a total of 60 touches, one key pass, one interception and one ground duel won. It was a fairly straightforward night for him apart from the hat-trick as he did not need to do much else.
Morocco are top of their qualifying group, scoring 26 goals in just six games, and they sit eight points clear of Gabon.
It concludes Brahim’s international break and he will return to Madrid without getting injured. He also carries a bit of momentum as well with his five goals in two games.
