Niger 4-0 Sudan: Niger outclasses Sudan
Niger recorded a resounding 4-0 victory over Sudan at Stade de Kégué, securing their first victory of this qualifying campaign and inflicting a significant setback on their opponents’ progress.
This performance allows Mena to climb to third place in Group F with four points, putting considerable pressure on Sudan, who remain second.
The match started strong with the opening score in the 6th minute, Daniel Sosah taking a perfect cross from Kairou Amoustapha to score.
Youssouf Oumarou doubled the advantage in the 29th minute with a powerful strike from outside the area.
Sosah then scored twice before the break, calmly converting a penalty after a foul by Mohamed Erneq in the area.
In the second half, Ousseini Badamassi hit the nail on the head in the 51st minute, definitively sealing Niger’s victory and their hopes of turning things around in these qualifiers.
Sudan failed to create clear chances, struggling to get around a well-established Niger defense.
This defeat leaves Sudan in second place with seven points, but the gap with Angola at the top remains significant.
Tunisia 3-2 Madagascar: A turnaround at the end of the suspense
In a nail-biting match at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, Tunisia beat Madagascar 3-2, securing three crucial points to take the reins of Group A with 10 points.
The match got off to a flying start with Tunisia opening the score from the start, Hamza Rafia finding the net. But Madagascar responded quickly with an own goal from Amenallah Memmich, allowing the Malagasy to equalize.
Tunisia regained the advantage thanks to Sayfallah Ltaief, author of a clinical finish after a good collective combination, before Madagascar in turn equalized in the 43rd minute thanks to a curling strike from Ibrahim Amada, who fly from outside the surface.
The second half was marked by a tactical battle on both sides, with tighter play. In stoppage time, it was Ali Abdi who got the better of the Malagasy defense to score the winning goal with a precise header, thus giving Tunisia a 3-2 victory and first place in the group.
Despite Madagascar’s good resistance, the defeat places them in last position with only 2 points, while Tunisia asserts itself as leader with a comfortable lead.
Libya 1-0 Rwanda: The Knights of the Mediterranean win on the wire
Libya snatched a precious 1-0 victory against Rwanda in Kigali, thanks to a goal from Fahd Saad Mohamed on the wire in the 84th minute.
The match was balanced, with both teams creating chances but failing to materialize.
Innocent Nshuti was particularly dangerous for Rwanda, but Libyan goalkeeper Bader Hassan was uncompromising, making several decisive saves.
In the 84th minute, Mohamed found the right timing by breaking away from his defender to receive a bright pass from Nour aldin Al Qulaib, and he deceived Thierry Manzi with a precise low shot.
This victory allows Libya to move up to four points, although they remain last in group D. Rwanda, for its part, retains third place with five points.
