Without a stylist, Angelina Jolie chose her own dress, one without a label, for her appearance on the red carpet on Sunday for the 2024 Governors Awards in Los Angeles.
The actress selected a vintage gown acquired from The Knit Vintage. The boutique praised Jolie’s decision to forgo a look from a recognized brand, and celebrated her authentic passion for vintage design.
“What makes this moment the most meaningful for us, is that we know what a true vintage lover, fan, and supporter she is,” read a caption on the TKV’s Instagram account. “Every time Angelina shops with us, she comes in on her own. She is very present, engaged, and chooses each piece. There has not ever been a stylist with her to hold her hand or a FaceTime to a friend. It is her surrounding herself with vintage, inspired by what she puts on next.”
The dress’ semi-sheer white skirt includes a mohair overlay complemented by a gold beaded halter top. The bohemian-glam look incorporates a drawstring corset that laces from the back.
The “Girl Interrupted” Oscar winner accessorized with geometric, sparkling jewelry including a necklace and earrings.
Jolie’s companion was her 16-year-old son, Knox Jolie-Pitt, whom she shares with her ex Brad Pitt. He suited up in a classic tuxedo and escorted her on the carpet.
Jolie has been on the promotional circuit wearing dazzling vintage looks as her film “Maria” continues to win favor among critics at international film festivals.
Jolie plays the titular soprano in “Maria,” which had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in August. Set in 1970s Paris, the biopic follows the final years of opera singer Maria Callas’ life.
The 2024 Governors Awards will honor Quincy Jones, Juliet Taylor, Richard Curtis, and producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli for their influential cinematic and humanitarian contributions. The 15th Governors Awards is sponsored by Rolex.
