As the Mazan rape trial draws to a close, the anger and distress of Gisèle Pelicot's children were heard on Monday, November 18. His sons said revelations about their father's rape of their unconscious mother had devastated their families.
Monday, November 18, David and Florian Pelicot, the two sons of Gisèle and Dominique, testified before the Vaucluse criminal court, in Avignon. David, 50, is the eldest of the siblings. He uses the expression “this man” to refer to his father. He looked back on a day in November 2020, when, devastated, his mother taught him the unthinkable: “I felt the ground give way under my feet. I felt nauseous.”
David then became angry, regarding potential abuse of his son, and his sister Caroline. “Tell the truth about what happened to my sister. On my son Nathan, if you have a little humanity left”, he asked. At the end of the hearing, David Pelicot was disillusioned. Florian, moved, declared: “We no longer live, we survive.”
Caroline Darian, the daughter of the Pelicot couple, returned to the helm. She says she is certain that she was abused by her father. “The only difference between Gisèle and me is the evidence.” she said. Today she considers herself to be the most forgotten person in the trial.
