The National Autonomous Electoral Commission (Cena), in a press release sent to the press, welcomed the smooth running of the legislative election on the national territory. “The early legislative elections of November 17, 2024 took place well throughout the national territory and abroad, in a calm, peaceful and serene atmosphere. From the opening of offices at 8 a.m. to their closing, around 6 p.m., citizens fulfilled their right to vote, once again confirming the attachment of Senegal and the Senegalese to the principles of democracy,” informs the Cena.

Thus, she salutes the exemplary behavior of citizens who highlighted their civic spirit and pays tribute to the defense and security forces, whose presence was visible in all voting places.

La Cena combines in the same tributes the different candidates in the ballot, their supporters and their representatives for the civic-mindedness and democratic spirit which they showed in the polling stations, allowing a transparent counting of votes in serenity.

Finally, the CENA welcomes the national and foreign electoral observation missions which deployed committed and vigilant agents on the ground whose findings confirm the anchoring of Senegal in the camp of major democracies,” she concludes.
