The General Inspectorate of the National Gendarmerie (IGGN) was contacted after the death of a 15-year-old minor on a two-wheeler in Ploubezre (Côtes-d'Armor), which the gendarmes wanted to control, the prosecution announced on Monday of Saint-Brieuc.

During the night from Saturday to Sunday, “it appears to have emerged that the gendarmerie crew had decided to carry out a check on the moped rider, after noting that the vehicle's license plate appeared to be partly obscured”, said in a press release. the public prosecutor of Saint-Brieuc, Nicolas Heitz.

“Despite the sound and light warnings being activated, the driver accelerated then braked several times, without stopping at the injunctions thus formulated,” continued the magistrate, specifying that the minor died when he hit a wall with his 600 cm3 vehicle.

“As it stands, no trace of impact was observed between the gendarmerie vehicle and the motorcycle,” which belonged to the young man’s family, said Nicolas Heitz.

The young man's body was transported to the Forensic Institute for a complete analysis of the medical causes of death. The Rennes research section (SR) was also seized of the investigation on instructions from the public prosecutor's office.
